TWCD Looks to Respond to Tasmanian Bushfires

In 2009, TWCD was formed as a response to bushfires in Victoria, Australia. Since then, we have sent teams and aid to those recovering from disasters in the United States and around the world. However, the people of Australia have a special place in our hearts.

In 2011, we went back to Australia, this time to help with flood recovery in Queensland. That trip was life-changing for many of our volunteers and we were able to impact the lives of several Australian farmers, reminding them there is always hope, someone cares about you, and you don’t have to go through disaster alone.

Now, we have another opportunity to return to Australia. More terrible bushfires–the worst in 50 years–are devastating parts of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Hundreds of homes and hundreds of thousands of acres have been destroyed by this fire. Farmers are seeing their entire properties go up in smoke. We have an opportunity to respond to this disaster, an opportunity to show the people of Australia–once again–there are people out there who care, and an opportunity to show Hope and Love to people having a really bad day.

We need your help. In order to make this trip a reality, we need to raise the money to go. Please prayerfully consider partnering with us in this adventure. Not only would your donation have an enormous effect on someone recovering from disaster, you would not believe the effect going on one of these trips can have on one of our volunteers.

We are extremely excited about this opportunity. Our heart breaks for the people of Tasmania, and we want to do whatever we can to help them while we live out our calling to be the light of the world, especially in the darkness of disaster.
